9 Things I Learned from Spaceship Earth

If you have ever been on Spaceship Earth at Epcot in Walt Disney World you know that for as much fun as you have you also learn some facts along the journey.

Here is a list of 9 Things I Learned From Spaceship Earth.  These are the 9 main points of the ride as told by the narrator.  This list is in order or facts from beginning of the ride to the end.

 

1. The first pieces of recorded knowledge were written on cave walls.

2. Papyrus, which comes from Eqypt, is the first paper used for record keeping and brings with it, the dawn of great civilizations.

3.  The Phoenicians invented the common alphabet.

4.  The Ancient Greeks established public schools and began teaching about mathematics which in turn brought mechanics.

5.  The Romans built the first series of connected roads to move their armies around.

6.  When Rome falls, and the great library of Alexandria in Egypt is burned much of our knowledge is thought to be lost.  But it turns out there are copies of some of these books in the libraries of the middle east being watched over by Arab and Jewish scholars

7.  In 1450, Gutenberg invents the movable type printing press. Now knowledge can travel as fast as these new books and travel they do.

8.  In 1969 man landed on the moon.
