Goodbye Illuminations, Hello Epcot Forever
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth’s 20 Year Run is set to end on September 30th, 2019 to make way for Epcot’s new nighttime spectacular, “Epcot Forever” scheduled to run into 2020 when Disney debuts the next nighttime spectacular yet to be named. This is all part of the transformation taking place at Epcot over a few years.
“Epcot forever” will have everything you would expect from Disney, fireworks, lasers, lighting, choreographed special effects kites, and stirring music.
According to wdwnews.com the show will spark major nostalgia using music from around Epcot since it opened in 1982. Which fun fact, this new show is set to debut on the 37th anniversary of Epcot which opened October 1, 1982.
“‘Epcot Forever’ is a celebration of what Epcot has been and what Epcot is going to become,” said Alan Bruun, show director for Disney Parks Live Entertainment. “Music is the star of the show, and we use songs going back to the very beginnings of Epcot to music in the park today – from attractions, spectaculars and other shows – and put them into a fireworks spectacular on the lagoon every night. Guests are going to hear music they know and love but in a whole new way.”
Keep your eye on Epcot over the next couple years. The development taking place is at a rate unlike what we have seen in the past.
Other plans for development at Epcot:
- Guardians of the Galaxy one of the worlds longest enclosed roller coasters in the world.
- Play Pavilion which will be kind of like Innoventions with games and hands on activities in an interactive city.
- The main entrance at Epcot will be getting updated
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction in France Pavilion like the one in Disneyland.
