Happy Birthday Magic Kingdom

Happy Birthday Magic Kingdom! Today (October 1st) In 1971 the Magic Kingdom opened. The Magic Kingdom was the first of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort and Theme Parks to open. Along with the Magic Kingdom opening on October 1st 1971, The Contemporary Resort and The Polynesian Resort also opened on the same day. This historic day marked the beginning of what Walt Disney World has been transformed into today. Roy Disney, Walt’s Brother, dedicated the park on opening day due to Walt’s passing in 1966. It sure is sad that Walt Disney wasn’t around to see the opening of his wonderful gift to the world however it is apparent that he lived long enough to put everything in place to ensure that Walt Disney World did open for the world to enjoy. Walt’s brother Roy Disney made sure everything was finished the way Walt would have wanted it to be done.
